About Us
Welcome to the Insurance Bowling Association (IBA)
The Association was founded in 1950 for flat green bowlers who work or have worked in the insurance industry, but in recent years it has expanded to include friends and relations of insurance members. We have bowlers of a wide range of abilities, ranging from average club player to good county standard.
We have no premises of our own, and our activities mainly comprise outdoor and indoor matches against clubs and other Associations. There are usually 10-15 matches each season, at clubs situated in all parts of Kent, Surrey and Sussex, plus occasional invitation events. Members can apply for selection in as many or as few matches as they wish, when the list is circulated at the start of the season. A convivial meal will usually form part of the day out!
The Association was originally set up for men only, but now ladies are also admitted to the IBA and all our matches are mixed. The current Rules can be found at:Constitution and Rules.
The current annual subscription is £20. A fee is also payable for each match, usually £5 for tea & biscuits or £12 for a full meal.
Our officials are elected at the Annual General Meeting (usually held at one of our host clubs in October or November). The present officials are listed below:
